- #How it all started...March 11, 2021
Back to 1916.
105 years ago now, SAET (S.A. de Extractos Tanicos) was founded and started operating where today lays the magnificent Tritón Building.
SAET, later owned and managed by catalan businessman and entrepreneur Josep Durall i Pujol, was formerly devoted to the production of vegetal extracts, used to treat leather and for other chemical uses.
In the sixties and seventies, in the same venue, the same machinery was used to make licorice extract.
By the end of these decades, SAET had already a wide range of confectionery products, mostly based on liquorice.
In 2005, after some corporate changes, SAET moved to its current location in St Jaume dels Domenys, Tarragona, changed its name to Saet Sweets and continues to successfully widen its range of confectionery and chocolate products, which are distributed all around the world.
The Triton Building, designed by renowned architect LluisCantallops, and his team, including project managers DALMAU-MORROS TECNICS, was erected right after that, and nowadays it offers luxury accommodation for long and medium term to those living and working in the neighbourhood of Poblenou, and its renowned technological district 22@ network and also, and very especially, for short term stays to all Barcelona visitors, so that they can enjoy the light of the city and the beauty of its beaches.
Both Saet Sweets and Durlet Apartments, together with other companies in the area, have contributed, and continue to, create employ and dignify the neighbourhood and its welcoming people.
This plaque commemorates the work of Josep Durall i Pujol and honors his name.
